I visited Sekitei Yuenchi, a fishing pond located in the Okutsu hot spring resort, together with a guest staying at a private residence. It’s a rare spot in Kagamino Town where you can catch rainbow trout!

How to Enjoy Rainbow Trout Fishing
1. Reception
When you let the staff know you’d like to fish, you’ll be given a fishing rod, bait dumplings, and a bucket for your catch.
2. Catch Your Fish
The pond is divided into two sections, upper and lower. Slightly smaller rainbow trout can be found in the upper section. Please note that all fish you catch will be weakened and must be purchased. So be careful not to catch more than you can take home!
3. Fish Processing and Weighing
After the fish is caught, the staff promptly removes the gills and entrails on site. Once cleaned, the fish are weighed without the gills and entrails.
4. Payment
On average, each fish weighs around 200 grams and costs about 400 yen. Ice is provided free of charge, and refrigerant packs are available for purchase if needed.
5. Folk Crafts
In addition to fishing, you can also browse and buy adorable folk crafts.
